POP CHAIR
Designed to be a fresh take on the flatpack chair, the pop chair is sold as a fully assembled unit. Made of birch plywood and leather hinges, it conveniently folds down a central spine.
How can I make a flatpackable chair without requiring assembly? How can a chair be collapsible but also stable? What materials can I use instead of metal hardware to accomplish these goals?
How can this design solution be seamless and elegant?

Through cardboard modeling, I explored how I could create a hinge down the middle of the chair.

Hand dyed natural leather strips, Birch plywood stained with Danish floor oil.

AutoCAD renderings to refine details of the leather hinges and to identify dimensions.
